Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-10-24.

This policy explains what information playatwork.net (“Play At Work”, “we”) collects when you visit the site or play CLOCK OUT, and how it is used.

Information stored on your device

Your game progress (pay, upgrades, unlocks, statistics, settings and your optional leaderboard name) is saved in your browser's local storage, together with a few backup copies so a failed update can't erase it. Besides the cases below (“Cloud Save” and “Daily Shift leaderboard”), it is not sent to us. You can delete it at any time from the in-game Settings menu or by clearing your browser data.

Cloud Save

After your first shift, the game backs up your game progress (the same data as above) to our server so you can continue on another device. It is stored under a random code that only the game shows you; we keep a one-way hash of the code, not the code itself, and no name, email or account. Anyone who has your code can load and change that career, so keep it private; you can replace it with a new code in Settings at any time. We keep your latest version plus earlier versions from the last two weeks so a damaged career can be restored. To stop abuse (such as guessing codes) we count requests per one-way hash of your IP address for a short time. A cloud save that hasn't been synced for 12 months is deleted automatically. To have one deleted sooner, email us its code.

Daily Shift leaderboard

When you finish a Daily Shift, the game submits your score, run statistics, chosen display name, a random player ID created by the game and the date to our server so it can appear on the public leaderboard. Only the name and run statistics are shown publicly. Do not use your real name if you don't want it to be public. To stop spam we also keep a one-way hash of your IP address for that day; it is never shown or shared. Each day's leaderboard, including those hashes, is deleted automatically 30 days later.

Anonymous usage statistics

The game sends anonymous, aggregated events (for example “a run started” or “a run ended at 3 PM”) to help us improve balance and performance. These events contain no names, no account identifiers, no IP-based profiles and no cookies. We also record which website sent you here (only its name, such as google.com or reddit.com, never the full address) and which of our pages you opened first, so we know which guides help players find the game. Our server adds only your approximate country and whether you are on a phone or a computer.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads on some pages. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through a certified consent management platform before personalised ads are shown.

Children

The site is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Because we hold almost none, the simplest way is to reset your progress in Settings. To have a cloud save deleted, or for anything else, contact business@playatwork.net.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest revision.
